About Us

Pump it Up began August 27th 2008 in the parking lot of a Jonas Brothers concert. Nick Jonas, the youngest Jonas Brothers is a type 1 diabetic. During the concert, he sang a song he wrote about his own struggle with diabetes called A Little Bit Longer. Everything he talked about in his song reminded me of my mom who is also a type 1 diabetic. The summer before that my mom almost died because of the doctor’s lack of knowledge about the disease. She was hospitalized because of a common stomach virus. The doctors didn’t know how to handle her insulin pump. This caused her sugars to be over 700. Because of that, she was in ICU for several days before she got better.

After the concert In the parking lot  I was saying how hard it must be to be a diabetic. My mom said to me “don’t feel sorry for us, do something to help”. And Pump It Up was born! Pump It Up includes Amanda Wolf (17) Brianna Pagliei (15) and Nicolette Pagliei (12) and myself Morgan Mullen (16) with help from Caitlyn Thornton (14) and Hayley Menkins (16).

In 2008 “Pump it Up” held our first annual “Snack and Juice” which is a family version of a Beef and Beer.  We asked my Mom’s employer, ACAC Fitness and Wellness center, if we could use the health club for the venue. Our neighbor’s volunteered by making raffle baskets and donating their time along with ACAC team members at the event. We were able to donate $6025.25 to “Change for the Children”, the Jonas Brothers’ organization.

Due to our huge success we planned 4 events in 2009. We had a Dance Party teaching children dances to Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and Honor Society songs. Our 2nd annual “Snack and Juice” PLUS 14 local Wendy’s donated a percentage of sales the night of the “Snack and Juice”. Stadium Grill in West Chester also donated to anyone mentioning “Pump it Up”.  We were able to donate almost $10,000.00 to the American Diabetes Association on through “Change for the Children”.

We have already begun our events for 2010. We are proud to announce our 3rd Annual “Snack and Juice” and 2nd Annual Dance Party. Currently, we are planning a dance team to be in our local West Chester Halloween Parade in October.
